Doug Sotheren is a well-respected Relationship Counsellor working in the field for over 40 years in counselling, teaching and supervision.  Doug has been an active member with a number of counselling organisations over his lifespan including CCAA and AARC and in 2014 was awarded Life Member for his service to CCAA.  Doug first trained as a relationship counsellor and futher enhanced his skills with Gestalt and Family Therapy.  His interest in body focused or somatic models of counselling led to training in this field.
For 8 years, from 1973 Doug has operated a counselling centre in Western Sydney, which in later years became the LifeCare Counselling Service.  He has run his own private practice from 1989.  Doug has over 40,000 hours of counselling, and thousands of hours of intensive clinical supervision and group training for counsellors and other health professionals throughout Australia.
