"It has been brought to PACFA’s attention that PACFA Registrants have been targeted by an email scam. Practitioners are receiving emails requesting counselling sessions for a couple visiting from overseas. If you receive any of these emails, please ignore them as they are a scam. The scam involves them sending funds to you - but the funds never clear - and you are then asked to send the funds back to them urgently when they have to cancel due to an unexpected bereavement.
This is the third time this type of scam has been brought to our attention. Unfortunately, there is nothing PACFA can do to stop email scams. In the age of the internet, scams are very common and we all have to exercise caution. If something seems too good to be true, it’s very likely to be a scam." - PACFA
Tasmania note: "This scam involves emails from a couple purporting to be from Canada and wanting to have 10 sessions while on holiday in Australia. The names provided are Offy and Pamela Desmond." PCA
