This workshop will assist counsellors to understand and apply the developmental theory of attachment to work with adults who struggle with a range of emotional and rational issues.  The focus will be on understanding how developmental experiences in relationship become adult states of mind influencing current relationships and functioning. This workshop will also introduce what this thinking can tell us about life as an adult, particularly as a parent or other person caring for children.  How our own history can support or complicate our relationships with children and young people will be presented.  Ideas for responding compassionately to ourselves and supporting others will be considered.
