Hello, I’m Emma. Some things about me to consider regarding my practice approach.
I love being a counsellor and am grateful to work with a variety of people and get to partner with them as they navigate challenges, overcome past trauma, or just build on their existing strengths and hopes. My work has predominantly been with adults who have experienced trauma, addiction, PTSD, anxiety, panic attack disorder, borderline personality disorder, bi polar disorder, depression, and some other circumstantial problems that require brief additional psychological support. My approach to counselling is strengths focused, draws on various therapeutic modalities, and is client led - basically I encourage the client to set the pace, and help them move towards their goals by helping them build on their coping skills, also helping them develop new insight/understanding about themselves/others, and hopefully help the client see their own strengths and ability to navigate difficult times/experiences.
The therapeutic approaches I draw from include Internal Family Systems, positive psychology, polyvagal theory, cognitive behaviour therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, Red Dust Healing, Drumbeat, narrative therapy, and person-centred practice.
I am a firm believer in the great capacity we each have to heal and live meaningful and joy filled lives; and that we are all so much more than the labels we have been given, or hardships we have experienced.
Please contact me via phone or email with any questions you might have, or to book an initial free consultation to discuss how we might work collaboratively to realise your well-being goals.
