Kylie Walls is a psychologist who is registered with the psychology board of Australia, and also has had many years experience as a counsellor. Kylie works with her clients to explore and process emotional experiences, tailoring treatment to individual needs. She draws on evidence-based approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Systems Theory, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. As a psychologist, Kylie can offer medicare rebates with a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Kylie respects client values and provides a professional, unbiased approach regardless of cultural or religious background. As a Christian psychologist, she can also offer support to those seeking a psychologist who shares their Christian faith and worldview. She is available to support those processing challenging experiences in religious environments, including those who are recovering from spiritual abuse, or cult involvement. In addition to her therapy work with individuals, Kylie works in a role where she is dedicated to promoting safety and well-being within church environments through policy development, training, and support.

Kylie supports clients experiencing perinatal adjustment, anxiety, depression, OCD, Panic Disorder, trauma, adjustment difficulties, life transitions, interpersonal challenges, abuse recovery, grief, burnout, and work stress.

Kylie is dedicated to supporting clients facing interpersonal difficulties at home and work. She helps clients develop healthier communication skills, resolve conflicts, and build stronger relationships. Additionally, Kylie offers compassionate support to those recovering from relationship breakdowns or abusive relationships, providing a safe space for healing and rebuilding confidence. She can also provide support for those experiencing challenging experiences within their workplace, including workplace bullying, burn-out, or difficulties determining future career direction.

As a therapist offering Gottman Therapy in Australia, I offer relationship therapy in a supportive and understanding environment. For those who desire it, faith-based perspectives (including Christian marriage counselling) can be integrated into our work. We'll work together to understand your relationship dynamics, improve communication, and rediscover the joy of being a team, focusing on building a strong and stable foundation while also nurturing emotional responsiveness.

Kylie has a keen interest in perinatal health, and she is dedicated to helping mothers navigate this significant life phase with empathy and understanding. Her role as a local and regional coordinator for the volunteer-based Mothers of Preschoolers program, along with her work in the Early Childhood Development Program, has allowed her to support many mothers and families. Kylie enjoys providing compassionate support for adjustment difficulties, mental health challenges, or birth trauma experienced during early parenthood.

Kylie also works as a sessional academic at the University of Southern Queensland, where she takes pleasure in supporting students studying Guidance and Counselling. Her recent research has focused on understanding the impact of adult attachment (anxious and avoidant attachment) on intimate relationships, particularly exploring the association between insecure attachment styles and coercive control, shame and emotion dysregulation. In her free time, Kylie enjoys spending quality time with her husband and children, exploring photography as an artistic pursuit, and catching up over coffee with friends.
