Valerie studied Licentiate in Marriage and Family Counselling, at Curtin University, followed by  4 years as a Counsellor in a secondary private school. This was followed by studying for two years at The William Street Family Centre studying …’ families’. Later, Valerie gained her Master of Counselling at The University of Notre Dame.

Valerie works with people from adolescence to the mature adult. She enjoys working in areas to do with relationships, depression, anxiety, stress and with people who are going through life transitions. Regarding couples, Valerie most recently studied The Gottman method for Couples, designed to assist couples, restore their marriages and establish strong relationships. She also uses The Prepare Enrich programme designed for those preparing for marriage and those who wish to enhance their marriage.

Valerie is accredited for Rewiring, which is a 6 session treatment to overwrite faulty and dysfunctional scripts that play over in people's heads. It is a combination cognitive behavioural/psychodynamic psychotherapeutic modality, a very practical way to rewire the brain based on the research by G. Milne.
