Helen is a passionate caregiver who endeavours to understand the needs of others by actively listening to her clients' stories in order to determine the main root cause of issues being experienced. She is warm and gentle in nature, understanding and caring. Her main areas of practice include family and couples as well as premarital counselling, Grief and loss, anxiety and depression.
The modalities Helen uses for her work include family systems which can help clients understand the mechanism in which they operate and may be contributing to their problems.
The Gottman method for marriage counselling, Acceptance and behaviour therapy (ACT) for issues that may be difficult to accept, Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) for troublesome thoughts and behaviours, integrative therapy which can help target various issues appropriately rather than just using one method, as some issues may need different approaches to address them.
Helen is interested in assisting clients who are experiencing difficult situations to acquire the appropriate skills, that will assist them manage their problems effectively, and to resume a more meaningful lifestyle that is centred on hope.
