In the role of supervisor, there is an added responsibility to ensure supervisees care for themselves and clients, both ethically and in keeping with legislations pertaining to practice. Drawing from ethical codes, legislation, and experience helping therapists and supervisors negotiate tricky situations, Julie comes with a wealth of knowledge and understanding of how both counsellors and supervisors can find themselves facing an ethics complaint.

 

This Professional Development event will:

  • Identify ethical issues in supervision • Informed consent and contracts
  • Describe the roles and responsibilities of the supervisor and the supervisee
  • Outline the responsibility to monitor the duty to intervene if either the counsellor or client appears to be at risk
  • Look at real-life case studies
  • Outline what to do if your supervisee is subpoenaed to appear, notes are subpoenaed, or a report is requested
