PhD (Clin), Co-Director of the Australian Centre for EFT

Jennifer Fitzgerald

Jennifer Fitzgerald, PhD (Clin), is a Clinical Psychologist in Brisbane, and Co-Director of the Australian Centre for EFT (www.aceft.com.au)  She is also an Associate Professor in the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland, coordinating courses in communication skills for medical students and sex and couples’ therapy for post grad psychology and counselling students. Jenny is the first Australian to be certified by the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (Ottawa, Canada) as an EFT therapist, supervisor and trainer.  She teaches EFT workshops in many states of Australia and provides clinical supervision for couples’ therapists. Jenny collaborated with Dr Veronica Kallos-Lilly (Vancouver Couples and Families Institute) to write An emotionally focused workbook for couples: The two of us, which Routledge published 2014. It has been translated into six languages. Routledge also published Jenny’s edited text, Foundations for couples’ therapy: Research for the real world (2017). She has also co-edited two text books for medical students (Communication skills for Medicine and Psychosocial dimensions in Medicine) and co-presented with Clare Rosoman at conferences on attachment and sexuality in New York 2015, Rome 2017 and Athens 2018.

Earlier in her career, Jenny was a Registered Nurse, and then the first Chaplain for the domiciliary services of Blue Care. At that time, Jenny was involved in Clinical Pastoral Education and palliative care work.  She grew up in the Presbyterian Church and has been a member of the Wellers Hill- Tarragindi Uniting Church for many years.
