Robyn became SA’s second Certified Gottman Therapist in 2019 after being introduced to the Gottman model during her Master’s degree. During these past 15 years, she has undertaken ongoing training in couples therapy according to various models, including Gottman training levels 1 to 3. In 2014, under the supervision of CCAA founder, Dr John Court, her research into couples relationships and the management of chronic illness was published in the international Family Journal: Counselling & Therapy for Couples & Families. To obtain Gottman certification, Robyn was required to extensively record her therapeutic work for examination by the Gottman Institute. Robyn is currently participating in two international studies conducted by the Gottman Institute into the effectiveness of Gottman therapy among couples and affair recovery.
Robyn is a psychotherapist in private practice in Adelaide’s northeast where she consults with couples and adult individuals, and provides clinical and pastoral supervision. She has 35 years’ experience in youth work, social work, and counselling. She has been married for 30 years to David and they credit the Gottman approach in particular for benefitting their marriage. Robyn attends Golden Grove Salvation Army, enjoys gardening, and is an avid armchair sports fan of football and tennis.
