A Map of Relational Possibilities
A Map of Relational Possibilities
From $40.00

This is a Face to face and online event – 2 hours of professional development (category A)
In this presentation Jackie will introduce a novel approach to explaining the complexity of human relationships, using A Map of Relational Possibilities.
This one-page map was developed by Joanne Walker a private psychotherapist, using ideas from Jackie’s PhD research, to explain complex theoretical concepts about human development to her clients.
The Map describes what an infant needs to develop optimally and how infants adapt to manage relationally traumatic situations where their caregivers are helpful and harmful. The map then outlines how the wound related to this early relational trauma limits options for being in relationship in adulthood. The map also offers pathways to move into a new more satisfying way of being in relationship.
The map uses simple visual icons and everyday language to describe the origins of the difficulties that are familiar to everyone struggling to create meaningful human connections.
