Staying with the body sensations (Levine, 2008) in relational, mindful awareness proves empowering and immediately integrative for many clients. Rothschild (2006) suggests that body aware therapists can practise skills to lower nervous system arousal during as well as after sessions, reducing transference and vicarious trauma. Drawing on a long-time interest in somatic approaches to both trauma care and self -care, I offer practical experiences for both client and practitioner that can serve to integrate body soul and spirit.
