This event is held Online – 2 hours of professional development (category A)

The most common complaint I hear from couples is that they have communication problems. This is not a complaint about lack of communication skills, but the negative emotional impact of what IS being communicated. Most communication is non-verbal, especially in intimate relationships.

This workshop draws upon recent advances in the field of linguistics to explain how to identify the unspoken messages that people continually communicate. The clinical application of the insights of Speech Act Theory, Relevance Theory and Communications Theory has transformed the effectiveness of my work with couples.

It will equip you to analyse the non-verbal aspects of communication and why people react the way they do to what others say to them. This workshop will equip you to be more insightful in your work with couples and clients facing difficulties in their relationships.
